Cogeneration plant with treatment of slurry in Juneda

This Cogeneration Plant is designed to eliminate pig slurry by means of a new VALPUREN® process, developed by SGT and SENER. The process consists of a combination of biological and physical-chemical treatments that transform the slurry into organic-mineral fertilizer and generate electricity. The plant is located in Juneda district (Lleida).

SENER realised the project in “turn key mode” (EPC-Lump Sum Turn Key). It is equipped with a gas cogeneration system of 16 MW power. The cogeneration is based on motor generator units powered by natural gas and biogas produced in the process.

The plant manages the slurry generated in farms of the zone and has the following key figures:

• Entry of slurry: 100,000 t/yr
• Production of fertilizer: 6,500 t/yr
• Production of biogas: 400 Nm3/h
• Generation of electricity: 16 MW
