Waste to energy power plant, Alonsotegui, Biscay, Spain.
Zabalgarbi, with its SENER-2 technology, is a high-effi ciency energy recovery power plant that fulfi lls SENER’s dual objectives of improving the efficiency of harnessing energy from waste and optimizing anti-corrosive behavior. The plant was developed by SENER with its own revolutionary technology: a thermodynamic cycle capable of working at high pressures of around 100 bar and low temperatures, near 350°C. Thermodynamic cycle patented by SENER.
The plant treats the residues of several towns in the Basque region and has one group - extendable to two with all shared infrastructures already prepared for both - comprising a 30 t/h MSW boiler, a 54 MW steam turbine, a 43 MW gas turbine and a heat recovery unit in the gas turbine release. The plan has a net output of 42%. The process was designed and patented by SENER. Construction of the plant is by EPC contract, which also includes start-up of the installations.
